► Boxing

The York St John Boxing Club was started in November 2008 by an ex York St John’s Student. The classes take place tow/three times a week in the temple hall building of York St John University. The training days are Tuesday evening, Wednesday afternoons and Sunday evenings, the duration of the classes is generally one hour thirty minutes to one hour in length.

The classes are suitable for males, females, beginners and those with previous boxing or other combat/martial arts experience. The training routine in the classes include boxing circuits, aerobic and anaerobic fitness routines, core strengthening, pad work, self-defence and sparing. The club is available to all students of York St John, ex-students, and members of staff.

The aims and objectives of the Boxing Club are to include people of all abilities male and female in the clubs activities. The club promotes a healthy lifestyle encouraging every one included to take part to the best of their ability. As well as the physical training aspects the club also has a social side where members often get together on an evening to go for a meal or a planned night out.
