Our student scheme recruits student volunteers to be linked to a disabled child or young person to support them to participate in leisure and school activities, but also to learn new skills. Student volunteers may be required to visit a child in their home or take them out in the community, or to attend a local group such as brownies, cubs or a youth group.

Restrictions:
All volunteers need to undergo an assessment including a CRB check. If you would like to discuss this before making an application please don’t hesitate to contact us. Information given to us will remain confidential within the project.
Additional Skills and Development acquired:
Specific issues relating to disability, for example learning about autism or how to communicate with a child who has no verbal communication.
Requirements before volunteering:
CRB check, written medical check, 2 references, 2 interviews/assessment, 1 half day of training.
Additional Training Offered:
We have a rolling programme of training that is offered to all volunteers that usually takes place on an evening, however demand is usually very high, and spaces are limited.
